Pow Wow Wow

Yesterday as we were riding to Wolf Point, Kelsey pointed out the great scenery. I told her there are so many places I’d rather be like in a cubicle. Kels said she would rather be in a rolly chair somewhere. We decided it would be fun to do rolly chair races down the hill we were standing on. But we didn’t have any rolly chairs, so we didn’t do it.

After Kate’s flat, we bought out the gummy worm supply at the convenience store, listened to Celine Dion at lunch, and hit major wind during the last 15 miles, which Denis and I pulled each other through. Love you, D.

We arrived at the host to the most ridiculous spread of sugar. I put myself into a sugar coma and took a nap. Later at the community pool, we raced down the water slides while I tried to keep my bathing suit top on. We were befriended by a young girl named Delores, and she taught me some sweet jumps, which I tried out.

The town of Wolf Point is on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. There was a Pow Wow going on all weekend, so we went to check it out. We arrived in time for the dinner break, but were invited back later after our amazing taco haystack dinner. The Pow Wow was pretty cool. I have never been exposed to Reservations or Native American populations, so it was really cool to learn a bit about their culture. Plus, we were invited to dance in the inter tribal dances, which we did with all the beautifully costumed community. Many of them have dresses similar to the one I wore to prom, which makes it even more ironic that we found it.

We were told that people have been seeing the Northern Lights from the town, so we headed out into a field to check it out, but were disappointed that we couldn’t see it. Trav has been our resident star man, and we know he will eventually make it happen.
